When I first looked at this painting I did 50 years ago I thought it had no connection to my present work - I have not painted since I left school........

I was quite shocked to see how the subject matter (lone figure in a landscape), the presence of water in both works and the colour I'd used, related to my teenage painting - they are both of family members, the earlier painting being an uncle who loved fishing and the latter print of my mother. I love being near water, the sea particularly - and just recently I have started making paper boats as part of my degree show installation!
