‘I came across a series of early drawings of mine, age 6 years. rather unexpectedly, the only ones I have ever seen. I remember that they were drawn from a book called' Hit or Myth' by James Riddell 1950, which I still have. This book was one of my big favourites as the pages were cut in half and all sorts of animals and creatures could be created. I am still fascinated by animals and in particular mythological ones that are part human. Books have always played an important part within my creative process and I am particularly interested in the physical manipulation of materials especially paper. .There is also the drawing element and the pleasure I must have had from representing these creatures as my own. Curiosity remains the greatest inspiring factor of my creative expression.’
